How Can A Psychiatrist Help Me During An Online Video Appointment?

Modern life puts many stressors and demands on us, especially in a big city like New York. In between work, family responsibilities, other obligations, and dealing with their symptoms, people who suffer from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may struggle to find the time and motivation to seek help at a doctor’s office.

Even if you find it difficult to attend an in-person consultation, it is important to seek care for any mental health condition. In these cases, we recommend that you schedule your psychiatrist appointment online for a virtual psychiatry session via video call. Psychiatry telemedicine offers a way to take positive action that’s quick and convenient but no less effective.

What Can I Do In A Virtual Psychiatrist Visit?

There’s a lot that you and your doctor can accomplish during an online appointment. Your psychiatrist can often provide the same level of care during an online appointment as during an in-person visit. They’ll be able to:

  • Perform assessments
  • Diagnose psychiatric conditions
  • Prescribe medication and make medication management recommendations
  • Provide counseling
  • Refer you for additional treatment, such as therapy or hospital-provided services

  1. At this time, we are only able to see telemedicine patients who are living in New York State and New Jersey.
  2. You can cancel your appointment up to 24 hours before the appointment start time (or 72 hours before, if your appointment is on a Monday) at no charge. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment or don’t show up, a $150 fee will be charged.

Requests for other controlled medications will require prior records or verification from your treating clinician.
  5. If you’re a telemedicine patient, any prior authorizations or disability paperwork that you may need are not covered by your health insurance. Therefore, our office charges a fee to cover these services. The fee for short-term disability paperwork is $100 every half-hour. The cost for prior authorizations will vary depending on your case.
